Yang Danwei
Yang obtained his bachelor’s degree in history from the Department of History at Zhejiang University in July 1987, followed by a master’s and Ph.D. in History from the Department of History at Nanjing University in July 1990 and July 2000. He serves as a faculty member at the School of Marxism, NJU, where he teaches courses including “Politics and Administration in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao”, “History of Modern China’s Foreign Relations”, “Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History” and “Contemporary Chinese Government and Politics”. He was honored with the title of “My Favorite Teacher” by NJU.
Areas of expertise in research: History of the Communist Party of China, modern Chinese politics, Cross-Strait relations. Yang led the project “Study on the Governance Mechanism of the Two Sides of the Taiwan Strait” and authored monographs including Analysis of Taiwan’s Policy towards the Mainland, The Political Development of China in the 20th Century, History of Anti-Japanese Base Areas in Central China, Contemporary Chinese Government and Politics, and papers “The Legitimacy of Nanjing-based National Government”, “Theoretical Analysis of the New Thinking on Peaceful Development of Cross strait Relations”, “Cross-Strait Social Organizations: a Discourse on the Generative Mechanism of the Cross-Strait Society”, and “Cross-Straits Society: Characteristics, Risks and Governance”, among which the “Cross-Strait Social Organizations: a Discourse on the Generative Mechanism of the Cross-Strait Society” won the 2009 Taiwan Studies Outstanding Achievement Award from the National Society of Taiwan Studies.
