Chen Jihong, born in July 1970, is professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Marxism, Nanjing University. She is also a member of NJU Academic Committee of Arts and the Academic Committee of the School of Marxism. With extensive experience in teaching and researching Marxist theory, she has made significant contributions to the research on the history of traditional Chinese ethical thought, ideological and political education, as well as traditional culture. She has authored two monographs and over 30 articles as the primary author in core journals such as Philosophical Research, Educational Research, Guangming Daily, Journal of Renmin University of China, Jianghai Academic Journal, Morality and Civilization. Many of her works have been reprinted by photocopy materials of Renmin University of China, Ethics, Ideological and Political Education, and Pedagogy. She presided over the key project “Research on the Virtues possessed by ancient Chinese scholar-bureaucrats” and the general project “Participation of Chinese Traditional Virtues in the Construction of Chinese Moral Discourse in the New Era”, both financially supported by the National Social Science Fund, while also being in charge of several major projects funded by NSSF. She won the first prize in the 11th and 16th Jiangsu Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards.
Professor Chen has made remarkable contributions to the dissemination of Chinese traditional culture through social communication. The Zhong Ying Moral Lecture Hall she led has gained significant social influence in China and played a crucial role in improving the cultural literacy of teachers in the Midwest China. She leads the key research base of philosophy and social sciences in Jiangsu Province— the Research Base of Traditional Chinese Virtues in the New Era, and actively promotes academic exchanges and promotion.
Professor Chen has been awarded a range of honorary titles. She was selected for the New Century Excellent Talents Program by the Ministry of Education, the first batch of young and middle-aged teachers of ideological and political theory courses to receive merit-based funding from the MOE, and the second-level training candidates under the Project 333 of Jiangsu Province. In addition, she serves as Executive Director of China Ethics Society, Vice President of Jiangsu Confucian Studies Association, and Vice Director of Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Supervisory Committee ofthe course “Ideological Morality and Rule of Law”.
